Retirement Planning Group, LLP is a Third Party Administrator (TPA) for retirement plans including 401(k), Profit Sharing, traditional Defined Benefit and Cash Balance programs.

Our services include designing programs that will maximize our clients’ tax deduction, while at the same time offering an attractive benefit program for their staff. As a full service TPA, in addition to consulting services, our compliance services include preparing and certifying Defined Benefit and Cash Balance Valuations, Plan Audits, Plan Testing (top heavy, ADP/ACP, coverage and general), Preparation of 5500’s, plan document drafting services and coordination of distribution processing.

Leadership

Al Schwartz

Al Schwartz is the Director of Retirement Services for Retirement Planning Group, LLP. In this role, Mr. Schwartz is responsible for the operations of the group which assists employees and businesses with retirement plans including pension, profit-sharing, defined benefit and 401(k) programs. Mr. Schwartz’s group of 12 professionals currently manages over 550 retirement plans for many industries.

Mr. Schwartz joined RPG in 2005. He brings to the firm more than 40 years of experience in retirement planning and customer service including work with many large insurance firms. Most recently he was Vice President of retirement operations with Retirement Planning Associates located in Waterford, Conn. where he was responsible for managing daily operations of its third party administration group. His team of 11 professionals provided service to 400 pension plan sponsors. Prior to that, he worked at The Travelers in Harford, Conn. as the Assistant Director of Operations. Mr. Schwartz was also Director of Client Services/Regional Sales Officer (1989-1991), Manager of Client Relations (1985-1989) and unit manager (1982-1984) at The Travelers. Mr. Schwartz also spent two years at Metropolitan Life Insurance in New York as a senior pricing analyst/unit manager.

Mr. Schwartz has been a contributor to various publications including the Worcester Business Journal.

Mr. Schwartz holds a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration from the University of Connecticut and is a member of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries.

Stuart Schoenly

Stuart Schoenly is a Partner in Retirement Services for Retirement Planning Group, LLP (RPG). Mr. Schoenly is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and an Enrolled Actuary (EA) and assists employees and businesses with retirement plans including cash balance/defined benefit, 401(k) and profit sharing programs.

Mr. Schoenly has been a partner in RPG since 2000. He brings to the firm more than 45 years of experience in actuarial consulting and retirement planning. Prior to joining RPG, he was President of Stuart G. Schoenly & Associates, Inc. and was an actuary with The Wyatt Company.

Mr. Schoenly holds a bachelor’s of science degree in actuarial science from Lebanon Valley College and has done post-graduate work in Actuarial Science at Northeastern University graduate program in Actuarial Science. He is also a Member Society of Pension Actuaries (MSPA) and Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries (FCA).
