The development of the nCubedTM Methodology has brought to the forefront the term Service Oriented IT (SOIT). SOIT is where ICI takes you from functioning within a technological mentality into working as an Internal Service Provider. For the industry, SOIT is the bridge to drive your infrastructure methodology of application delivery towards Cloud Computing. Currently, most firms work from the understanding that they own an IT environment that is made up of many infrastructure components including Operating Systems, Storage, Networking, Servers, etc. The problem is that your resources are focused on break/fix, reactionary mode trying to keep up with the ever-changing infrastructure issues.

SOIT enables you to begin to think about developing different levels of services that will be offered to the end-user. These services are based on business and technology needs as defined by your businesses during the NIRVANA Consulting Phase of ICI’s nCubed Methodology. Once these services are defined, articulated and fully understood, the processes change and technology is then applied to each service Level. This is what enables you to begin to take the next step's in creating and realizing a Cloud Computing environment.

However, prior to you moving to Cloud Computing, they need to utilize a SOIT model to create a Federated Computing model. Federated Computing is a version of Cloud Computing where the identified service (e.g.,Iaas, Saas, STaas) has the ability to migrate and function in a “location agnostic” environment. To be able to make this shift, ICI will work consult with you to understand all aspects of their organization through the nCubed Methodology. The ICI nCubed Assessment uses a proven methodology of addressing an organization’s technical infrastructure by breaking it out into layers: Standardization, Unification, Foundation. All aspects of The Cube methodology of a virtual compute data center.
