The Office of Information Technology is responsible for supporting users, departments and systems on the City Hall network. This department also supports a wide area network that is currently migrating from leased line connections to a fiber based Institutional Network (I-NET). When the city's I-NET is built out, every municipal building and school facility will be connected through a secure, managed, central hub at speeds sufficient to satisfy user demands for many years to come.
Server operating systems currently in use on the network included Microsoft Windows 2000 and SCO UnixWare. Window 2000 servers provide for file and print services as well as hosting an Exchange 2000.environment. The city's financial management system (MUNIS) resides on the Unix platform.
