MAYOR JOHN C. CURRAN AND PLANNING BOARD DIRECTOR ANNOUNCE AGENDA FOR WOBURN HOUSING FORUM

Mayor John C. Curran and Planning Board Director Ed Tarallo are inviting all interested citizens to attend the Woburn Housing Forum scheduled for Wednesday, August 6th, at 7:00pm. The public forum will be held at the Shamrock School. Mayor Curran outlined that, "The purpose of this next installment of our Vision 2020 series is to elicit and record input from residents, landowners, developers, and members of the business community as to the goals and objectives for housing, as well as locations that should inform the housing element of the Master Plan. Participants will hear details of Woburn's past and future housing supply and demand, brainstorm ideas relative to housing goals and priorities, identify location preferences, and proffer input for housing implementation strategies."

After the development of goals and priorities, attendees will have the opportunity to discuss enablers and barriers that might affect Woburn's capacity to achieve its housing goals. Planning Board Director, Ed Tarallo, stated that outcomes would include a "housing goals statement, a prioritized list of themes, a draft map, and an achievement assessment." "We will take the public's input on housing, and together with assistance from the Metropolitan Area Planning Council, develop a menu of alternative implementation tools and planning strategies."

Tarallo stated that after the August 6th session, a forum on transportation issues would be held on September 17, 2003. Results from all the Vision 2020 sessions will then be coordinated and reviewed at the "Putting It All Together" Meeting, which is slated to take place on September 30, 2003. As in the past, the Mayor encourages the public to attend, and anyone with questions regarding agenda items is encouraged to call the Planning Board Director.
